Gotho Graeci cavalry. Based in the capital they were sent to the theme Optimaton hence their name Optimatoi. We think that's why they are associated with the Persian wars they were in closest proximity to Constantinople on the Asian side. Fought for Heraclius during his Persian campaigns. Riders only, they are shown on H15 mounts.
